AirAsia is a Malaysian low-cost Airline headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. AirAsia is the largest low-cost carrier in Malaysia with other affiliate airlines, Thai AirAsia, Indonesia AirAsia, Philippines AirAsia and AirAsia India. AirAsia's sister airline, AirAsia X focuses on low-cost, long haul routes. The latter recently announced its long haul growth plans.

EasyJet is a British low-cost airline headquartered at London Luton Airport. It operates both international and domestic routes. EasyJet serves 136 destinations and is one of the biggest airlines in Europe.

3. Norwegian

Norwegian Airline is a Norwegian low-cost airline and Norway's largest Airline. Norwegian is the third largest low-cost carrier in Europe behind EasyJet and Ryanair. Norwegian Airlines launched its long-haul flights in May 2013.

4. Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airline is a major American airline headquartered in Dallas. Southwest Airlines began operation as an intrastate airline. Now the airline has nearly 58000 employees with over 4000 departures a day during peak travel seasons.

5. AirAsia X

AirAsia X, formerly known as FlyAsianXpress Sdn. Bhd., is a long-haul budget Airline based in Malaysia. AirAsia X has two other affiliates, Indonesia AirAsia X and Thai AirAsia X. AirAsia X is the main long-haul operation of the AirAsia brand. The franchise is able to keep costs down by using a common ticketing system, aircraft livery, employee uniforms and management style.

Jetstar Airways is an Australian low-cost carrier headquartered in Melbourne. Jetstar is part of the Qantas Group two brand strategy - having Qantas Airways for the full-service market and Jetstar for the low-cost market.

7. WestJet

WestJet Airlines is a Canadian Airline founded in 1996. It served as a low-cost alternative to the country's competing major airlines (namely Air Canada). WestJet provides scheduled and charter air service to over 100 destinations in Canada, the United States, Europe, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. WestJet is the second-largest Canadian Airline behind Air Canada, operating an average of 777 flights and carrying over 66,130 guests per day. WestJet has two subsidiaries, WestJet Encore which operates the Bombardier Q400 and WestJet Link which operates the Saab 340B aircraft.

8. IndiGo

IndiGo is an Indian low-cost airline. It is the largest airline in India by passengers carried and by fleet size. It is also the largest Individual Asian low-cost carrier in terms of fleet size and passengers carried. The airline operates flights to over 60 destinations and is wholly owned by a private company, InterGlobe Enterprises.

9. Ryanair

Ryanair is an Irish low-cost airline headquartered in Dublin. Ryanair is part of Ryanair Holdings, which also owns Ryanair UK, Ryannair Sun and Lauda. Ryanair is the largest operator of the Boeing 737 Aircraft. Ryanair owns over 400 Boeing 737-800 aircraft with only one Boeing 737-700 used for charter operations.
